ToddlerLife: First Day of PreSchool

Ahhh my Baby Pancakes begins PreSchool today and I wasn’t able to take him to school but I will be picking him! I can’t believe the time has come for him to begin school.  We were able to keep him at home for the past three years (which was a blessing and a lot of sacrifice and hard work).  Baby Pancakes really had outgrown us and our ability to teach and entertain and socialize him.  He’s actually been asking for the last six months now about going to school…it’s also because all the kids in our neighborhood attend school.  To deny him attendance at school would just be insane.  I don’t know if I was emotionally prepared for him to be away from a parent for more than 7hours a day, 5 days a week but it’s important to give our kids what they need sometimes.  We are confident of the Preschool and what they are able to provide for Baby Pancakes academically, socially and emotionally. And of course Baby Pancakes has learned about his body and body safety and that’s important.  Being a social worker, I am too used to hearing about kids being abused and neglected and I wanted to make sure that he is aware of body boundaries and safety.  You should hear him say “This is my body and no one can touch me!”  We are never ready to leave our kids with other people because honestly we know we can do best by our child.  However, trusting others to ensure your child is provided for academically, socially and emotionally is paramount for their growth and their development.  And with Baby Pancakes 2.0 coming, it’s important for my little toddler to go out into the world and make his mark.  I am so excited to hear and see all the stuff he will be learning and how he will grow and change in the next year.  Here’s to Team Pancakes moving forward into the PreSchool years! Wish us luck!

I love that shirt and I can’t wait for his teachers to honestly deal with some of the stuff (attitude and noncompliant behaviors) he’s been coming up with lately…I know they will whip him into shape!

Gosh…can’t believe he started pre-school already. It seems like we were just pregnant with our kids a few months ago!
