Recently i have been thinking about changing jobs and this week my talking and dreaming and scheming has become a reality and it all stems from self-confidence.
Initially i think i was timid about celebrating my accomplihsments in my work. I have been in my line of work now for well over ten years (almost eleven) and i think when you begin your career at a younger age (early 20’s)…it takes awhile to believe in your skills and knowledge that you have acquired over the years (at least for me it did).
Recently, I was having a conversation with Mr. Pancakes and he reminded me how passionate and good I was at what i do. He reminded to speak (during my interviews) about all the different things i have done over the years in my career field. That’s when everything made sense…I have done many things over the years and i have done them well and have been successful with clients and employers. I have made a difference (in people lives) over the years given my skills and knowledge. When Mr. Pancakes said this, it just hit home. It made me look at my career self differently and more confidently.
The next several interviews i went in with such a high…that i left knowing that i had received the positions. Every company I interviewed with were interested in me. One even wanted to make special accomodations for me (in terms of the schedule) so that i could join their team. In the end, i accepted a position that i am super excited about. And the salary is even more exciting!
I am not bragging (maybe just a little bit) but honestly i really just want to encourage everyone just believe in yourself, your skills and knowledge. Be confident and confidence will breed successs. I am speaking from exprience.
Question of the Day: Have you experienced any issues with confidence? How did you overcome it?
