OWNing Oprah

I’ve been subscribing to Oprah’s magazine for the past several years and over the last six months, i have been enjoying watching Oprah, the woman bloom and it’s beautiful.

I’ve noticed several things as it relates to Oprah as of late.  Primarily as it relates to owning who she is.  Of course i could be talking about owning all her businesses and other endeavors BUT i am not talking about those…i am talking about how since turning 60…she appears to be more comfortable in her skin, in her womanhood, femininity.

Most of her magazine covers have shown her being more confident and sexy in the woman that she is.  She seems to be saying: at 60, i have finally arrived and there is no one else to please by myself.  And it’s refreshing and breathtaking that Oprah, with her history of emotional and physical abuse, can finally  have the confidence within herself to stand up and be who she always has been. A vibrant, confident and sexy woman.

I can only hope that i can own myself before i get to the age of 60 but at whatever age you arrive at yourself confidently, it’s never too late.

From a recent interview, Oprah said this:

Oprah on being comfortable in the skin she’s in:
“One day I literally woke up and thought ‘My god, these knees have been with me for 60 years. Wow! I’ve had these elbows for 60 years. My heart has been beating for 60 years. The feet I stand on have carried me for 60 years.’ And when you think about it that way, you can be nothing but grateful.”

Go Oprah! I salute you!

Love Oprah! She’s coming to my area in September. I’m hoping to get tickets to see her, but they’re expensive. Why Oprah, why?!!!

  2. My mom loves Oprah! I’ve always found her to have a grandmotherly wisdom. I’m assuming its because of her and my age differences.

Oprah is going on tour (it may have already started) and we bought tickets for my mom to go- she was ecstatic!

I love Oprah! I also love that she seems to be coming into her own. Even with success, sometimes it takes a while to know your worth. 🙂
