Baby Leashes Revisited!

Good Morning Friends…hope your hump day is awesome!

Today’s post is a revisit to a post I wrote several years ago when I was young and newly married without even a thought of children.  Lo and behold i would become pregnant months later and a year later have a baby of my own and almost two years later that baby will be turning one and the post is relevant again.

The post was actually one of my most popular and commented posts and it was entitled: Baby Leashes Anyone?

In the posts, I asked questions like: is this really necessary? Is it acceptable? In other words, I was being somewhat a lot judgmental of parents that chose to use the baby leashes.

And now what do it think about baby leashes?

Are they necessary? YES!

Are they acceptable? HECK YES!!

Now that Baby Pancakes is walking and all over the place…he really is a a mover and although he is still small enough that we can hold onto him…in a few more months, i can only imagine us in crowded places like the airport or sports event.  Sometimes even in our small space, i can’t keep track of him because he is so quick to run off somewhere (in his baby way of running–cutest thing ever!).

So i am changing my mind about the baby leashes.  We have yet to purchase one but definitely something we would highly consider in the near future.

Sorry to all moms that uses baby leashes for my judgmental post and thoughts almost two years ago because now i will be one of those moms that uses the baby leash.

Judge all you want because at least my baby is safe!

As someone who doesn’t yet have kids, they just freak me out! But I can’t really judge because I don’t have kids, so I don’t know what it’s like!

Oh and I should add that there are quite a few patrons at my restaurant that I wish would get leashes for their kids, before one of them runs into me while I’m carrying a heavy tray full of food. So maybe I do support them?

    • See I didn’t even think of that angle…goodness my baby has made a mess at restaurants…my apologies for all the moms with the crazy kids at restaurants!

Hmmm…interesting post. I must admit I have always been against them but with your recent post, I am forced to re-think it. My baby isn’t walking yet but she is crawling and is quite fast! Sometimes, I have to look for her cause she isn’t where I left her. I am wondering if I too will at some point change my mind. For now though, I am still 60% anti-it :-).

  4. Haha! No judgement here at all but I think if I turned out fine without them my baby can. It just looks awkward to me. Lol. Hopefully I don’t change my mind.

  5. No judgements. I never had one for V but I’ve thought about it. They move so fast on those tiny legs.

I’m never against products that keep children safe. I think people see the term leash and they automatically think dog or animal. I’m definitely investing a child harness for next summer. My SIL is getting married on a cruise ship and the last thing I want to happen on the days we dock is to lose one of my children in a foreign country.

  7. We have yet to use one, but I certainly dont blame parents! I actually fell in home depot yesterday trying to catch Bennett.. a leash would have helped that!

I’m a mom of a toddler and still I’m not a fan of the baby leash. I was at my hubby’s ball game and there was a mom there with what had to be a 6-year old tugging her all over the park with his leash. I guess I stand on “to-each-there-own”…but there comes a point when you need to teach your kids boundaries, otherwise, they’ll run you!!
🙂 But I got a kick out of visualizing the “baby run”! It is cute!!

Amazing how fast those little legs move!! I think use of a leash depends on the kid to be honest. No two kids are alike some kids will walk with you others can’t seem to help but to run ahead no matter what. It’s almost like a gravitational pull 🙂 I’m all for whatever keeps kids safe and parents sane!

Oh and the pic with what appears to be triplets – I’m not sure I can imagine going out with triplet toddlers without leashes!!
